A downloadable game for Windows

In this world, only the smart survive.

Rated Unofficially: Everyone 10+

WARNING: This game contains flashing lights, scary imagery, loud sounds, topics of depression, pop culture references, and gameplay elements designed to instill fear.

This game is purely a work of fiction, and should be taken as such.

Number 1 Winner of a SkillsUSA PSN Regionals, and inspired by series such as Five Nights at Freddy’s or Resident Evil, Toumthump is a puzzle horror that tasks you with surviving your own depression manifested as a school, in order to break free. It is heavily styled after escape rooms, with the puzzles and room built around that idea in the game. In terms of graphics, it’s a mix of retro and modern graphics makes it fun to play and appealing to the eyes, using dithering, pixelation, billboards, and more to create a fun and inviting art style, alongside being thematic to the game. The graphics and sounds both work together, alongside the programming, in order to create a flowing horror game that can appeal to many.

Toumthump is about school. But not just about school; rather, it's about the hell that school can feel like. In fact, you could likely call it an accurate representation of your school that you went to. Or not, just depends on if you'd call your school a horror game with loading screens and endless puzzles.  And evil beings, that one is important. This game was heavily based off the perception of school when someone is going through depression and everyone just seemed against you, and that fumbling point where the walls crumble and everything becomes dark and you can't breathe. Your goal is to find the light at the end, that last hope, or fail and fall to the darkness you've brought yourself. Can you do it?

Although this horror game can technically be enjoyed by all ages, it’s mostly suitable for a teen-adult audience, as this game contains horror elements that might not appeal to younger ages. This game will appeal to those who enjoy thinking on a time constraint, as well as those looking for a fun horror experience. The game can also be enjoyed by those just looking for something indie and fun, as the game carries a lot of that feeling.

The main selling point of Toumthump is it’s death-not-end gameplay loop, which encourages losing in order to come back and do better next time. It's not always about being good; sometimes you need to fail to push forward. Our game also has many features that add to the excitement: Achievements, Easter Eggs, Scores, and a WIP New Game+!

We utilized Godot, Photoshop, Soundtrap, Blockbench, Ibis Paint X, and Capcut to make our game possible.

The game is still a WIP, with many things subject to change, but right now the estimated playtime is around 1-2 hours, however dependent on your keenness and enjoyment of puzzles.
